Purpose-Built
Off-the-shelf products are not always the best fit for a lighting application. We design
and manufacture architectural lighting around each project’s specific needs—whether that means creating an entirely new light fixture or adapting one of our existing designs.
Our approach allows us to optimize the fixture for the architecture, considering geometry, optical performance, glare control, thermal design, installation, and serviceability. We prioritize replaceable light sources and components, allowing the light fixture to be maintained rather than replaced.
Our work includes interior and exterior lighting, from step lights and surface-mounted accent fixtures to illuminated mirrors, wall grazers, and linear cove lighting.
Step series
01
Designed for a residential project, this custom exterior surface-mounted step light provides functional illumination along paths and stairs. Its removable faceplate allows lamp access and sheds rainwater. The exterior components are powder-coated aluminum, while the interior housing is made from SLS 3D-printed nylon.
Downlight

Illuminated mirror system

Illuminated mirror system developed for a residential project features a large floating mirror surrounded by a wooden frame. Concealed linear LED lighting provides soft ambient illumination, while a custom French cleat secures the mirror and allows for removal for LED strip replacement if required.
Miniature accent

Part & Process designed and fabricated compact, surface mounted accent light fixtures to illuminate freestanding and bust sculptures. Their small 3D printed nylon housing minimizes visual presence, while replaceable directional LED lamps provide focused illumination.
Beam accent & general lighting

Custom two-head accent light fixture designed and fabricated to nest within a great room vaulted ceiling tie-rod bracket system. Each light fixture softly highlights the beam faces while also providing general downlight.
Art accent

Designed and fabricated by Part & Process, the adjustable patinated-brass monopoint light fixtures provide both general and focused illumination in key areas in an open-concept residence. In the common areas, they highlight artwork, including a multi-panel wall relief by Oregon artist Leroy Setziol. A tool-free removable lamp shroud simplifies lamp replacement while maintaining a clean, fastener-free appearance.
Grazer

Designed for an angled ceiling niche in front of a steel-clad fireplace, this custom grazer light fixture directs each LED reflector lamp straight downward. A magnetically attached baffle was developed to secure each lamp and reduces glare while allowing tool-free removal for lamp replacement. The design specially uses individual LED reflector lamps with a GU10 type base that can be replaced by a homeowner, not requiring an electrician.
Cove lighting

Custom cove light fixture angles linear LED lighting to distribute more light into the room and across the ceiling. Its open aluminum channel provides space for low-voltage wiring that serves individual LED strip runs and wire connectors.
Mud-in cove lighting

Designed for the intersection of a stairwell wall and ceiling, this custom mud-in cove light fixture is fabricated from folded sheet aluminum. The system includes a structural mounting tray and a removable linear LED mounting/heatsink channel for straightforward installation and repair for 5/8-inch thick drywall.
